<<The first in a series of selections from Mike's personal MiniDisc archive, documenting the Boston-area underground improvised music scene at the turn of the 21st century.>>

The actual date of this performance at Baltimore's storied Red Room is currently lost, but it most likely occurred in 2002 or 2003 (possibly 2004). Vic and I had been playing as a duo since 2000; we had come home from a tour with the Saturnalia String Trio + Daniel Carter knowing that we needed an outlet for our growing interest in electronics and feedback. The duo quickly became a laboratory/workshop through which we each developed new approaches that would influence our other work. Today this duo is one of my longest-running projects.

released June 5, 2019

Vic Rawlings: amplified cello, open electronics
Mike Bullock: amplified contrabass, function generator, analog signal processors, tuning forks, objects
